Parents,
Please allow your students to bring in their Ipods, portable CD players, MP3s & 4s and any other musical device they may have for a class project this week. We are going to write poetry inspired by music this week. The students are going to create five different poems inspired by a single genre of music they choose. They are then able to set their poems or lyrics if you will, to music using the Macbook computers. This project will be completed partially in class this week only and then the students will have time outside of class to finish as well. The due date for this project is March 20th. I will post a rubric for the project soon.

Parents I need your help!!!
Parents I am enlisting your help. Any writing help that you can give to your children at home to back up what we are doing in school would be very helpful. FCAT Writes is the second week in February and quickly approaching. Right now the students have just finished their third district writing prompt and we are now working on grammar and conventions. If you see them with a Writing & Grammar book, ask them about it. If you should happen to go out to a fast food restaurant and your child orders fries ask them what F.R.I.E.S. means in Language Arts. If you ask them a question and the answer they give does not completely answer your question, ask them how can they make their answer better according to the short response rubric or the extended response rubric and ask them how many lines they have to use in the short and extended response boxes. These are the things they will need to concentrate on for FCAT Writes. Thank you for all that you do parents and I am grateful for your continued support.
